STEREOSCOPIC 3D

What is 3D?

A 3-D("Three-D")film or S3D(Stereoscopic 3D) film is a motion picture that enhances the illusion of depth perception. Derived from stereoscopic photography, a special motion picture camera is used to record the images as seen from two perspectives(or computer-generated imagery generates the two perspectives), and special projection hardware and/or eyewear are used to provide the illusion of depth when viewing the film. 3-D films are not limited to feature film theatrical releases, television broadcasts and direct to video films have also incorporated similar methods, primarily for marketing purposes.

What is 3D television?

A 3D television is a television that conveys depth perception to the viewer by employing techniques, such as stereoscopic display, multi-view display, or 2D plus depth, and a 3D display, a special viewing device to project a television program into a realistic three-dimensional field.

3D glasses

There are two categories of 3D glasses technology, active and passive. Active glasses have electronis which interact with a display. Passive glasses filter constant streams of binocular input the appropriate eye. There are several techniques to produce and display 3D moving pictures.

Common 3D display technology for projecting stereoscopic image pairs to viewer include
- Anaglyphic 3D(with passive red-cyan galsses)
- Polarization 3D(with passive polarized glasses)
- Active shutter 3D(with active shutter glasses)

3D plus (Semi Auto conversion service)

Cmos Media Tech has developed special software for the semi-automatic process which consists of 10% key frame manual conversion and 90% auto tracking conversion. The manual process involves key frame masking by stereoscopers, which the automatic process then tracks to extract the moving image.

3D Conversion workflow

CMOS Conversion VS. Manual conversion

Cmos Media Tech is offering a cost-effective semi-automatic 2D to 3D conversion service that is typically four times faster than a completely manual conversion process. A one-hour video takes around 30days to convert using the CMOS Conversion Service, as opposed to 90 days for a typical manual conversion service.
